Revlie Schuit ken ik al een paar jaar, eerst alleen online van haar blog ‘Life is good'. Dat is een mooi blog waar ze vertelt over haar leven, maar ook veel creatieve creaties laat zien en met uitleg hoe je zelf zoiets kan maken. Later kwam ik haar tegen op verschillende Scrapbook evenementen waar ze ook workshops verzorgde. Zo leerde ik van haar hoe je een vilten mini-album kunt maken (heel cute) om leuke foto’s in te plakken. Verder is Revlie eigenaar van Artifex Support een bedrijf voor secretariële dienstverlening.



Revlie had haar eerste fototoestel toen ze een jaar of 16 was en was vanaf dat moment veel met fotografie bezig. “Ik schoot erg veel rolletjes vol en iedereen bestelde graag bij mij na. Ik had altijd wel mijn fototoestel bij me. Toen in 2003 mijn dochter Sanne werd geboren, maakte ik wel 500 tot 1000 foto's per maand. Nog steeds maak ik veel foto’s en druk wel honderd tot tweehonderd per maand af (via pixum.nl overigens!)”

Wat gebruik je om te fotograferen? “Ik heb een Canon EOS 400 D en een 18-55 mm lens. Mijn flitser gebruik ik praktisch nooit. Mijn camera staat op de "AV" stand, wel stel ik als het donker is een hogere ISO waarde in. Om eerlijk te zijn weet te weinig van mijn camera; ik doe maar wat”.
Welk programma gebruik je voor je foto nabewerking en waar gebruik je het voor? “Ik gebruik Photoshop Elements. Vooral om mijn foto's iets meer licht te geven, ze om te zetten naar zwart/wit en ik gebruik soms actions.”.
Welke tips heb je voor ons? “Ik vind de tutorials en online lessen van Jessica Sprague vooral erg nuttig en super. Ze werkt met veel video's, waardoor het erg goed blijft hangen”.



Op welke momenten ben je blij dat je goed kunt fotograferen? “Toen ik voor mijn beste vriendin een "fotoshoot" van haar en haar 2 broers met aanhang mocht maken, was ik daar er trots op. Ze wilden een foto hebben om af te drukken op een groot canvas doek voor het 40-jarig huwelijk van haar ouders. Ik moest wel even over een drempel om de foto te maken, maar ik ben er heel erg blij mee en trots op. Van diezelfde vriendin mocht ik ook, slechts een paar uur na de geboorte van haar zoons, beide keren de foto van het geboortekaartje maken. Met tranen in mijn ogen verliet ik het ziekenhuis. Dat zijn toch wel de meest mooie momenten om mee te maken. En dan die duizenden foto's die ik van mijn kids heb gemaakt. Straks, als ze volwassen zijn, zullen ze hun jeugd zo ongeveer per dag kunnen terugzien. Leuk toch!”

I've known Revlie Schuit a few years, first only online because of her blog "Life is good". At this lovely blog, she talks about her life and about craft. She shows her many creative creations, while explaining how you can make something. After some time I’ve met her in real life to, on a Scrapbook event where I took one of her classes. She there learned me how to make a cute felt mini-album. Revlie owns ‘Artifex support’ a company for secretarial services.
Revlie owened her first camera at 16 and was fascinated by photography from then on. "After vacations I’ve returned with many full rolls and everybody that was with me on that vacation ordered copy’s of those pictures. I always have my camera with me. In 2003 my daughter Sanne was born, from then on I’ve made like 500 to 1000 images a month. I still print a hundred or two hundred photo’s a month (via pixum.nl)."

What photo equipment do you use? "I have a Canon EOS 400 D and I use 18-55 mm lens. I don’t use my flash very often and to be honest; my camera is in the "AV" mode, only when it gets darker I change the ISO to a higher value. I don’t know enough about my camera".
What photo editing program do you use and when? "I use Photoshop Elements. Especially to give my pictures some light, to convert them to black and white and I use actions sometimes".
What tips do you have for us? "I think about the Jessica Sprague tutorials and online classes. They are useful and bring me step by step where I want to be. Jessica Spargue works with many videos, so that everything is understandable”.



At what times are you glad that you’re good at this? "I was very proud when my best friend asked me to do a photoshoot with her two brothers and their wifes. They wanted to print one of the pictures on a large canvas as a present for the 40th anniversary of her parents. That same friend asked me also to come to the hospital just after a few hours after the birth of both her sons. Both times I was able to take the pictures of these guys when they were a newborn for their birthannouncement. I've left the hospital, with tears in my eyes. Those are surely the most beautiful moments to experience. Just as much as the thousands of pictures from my kids, when they are an adult they must be glad that they can look back at their childhood memories almost day by day. That is nice, isn’t it?"
